Originally conceived in Sept. 2009, it was this piece that started the Signal project. It began as a simple piano melody that evolved over time as I added pads, synths, and drums. For a time it sat on my my hard drive, unfinished. And then one day in 2010 I said to myself, "hey, this could be an excellent theme for a science fiction movie!"

That got the musical ball rolling. When I actually started the Signal project in late 2010, I used the themes from this piece as the template to draw from to form the other pieces.

As I didn't have proper recording hardware until January 2011, the final version of this piece wasn't finished until early 2012.
